Inspired by their visit to Ataco, El Salvador, in 2017, Ruby Barrientos' work explores the common sentiment of the Salvadoran diaspora - “ni de aquí, ni de allá” or “not from here, not from there.” Through Barrientos' own interpretation of what reminds them of their homeland, they resist the erasure of their own Salvadoran culture and celebrate their cultural heritage.

Próximamente en la galería de la Biblioteca del Northwest Reno: Exposición y recepción de Trascendiendo Fronteras

Inspirado por su visita a Ataco, El Salvador, en 2017, el trabajo de Ruby Barrientos explora el sentimiento común de la diáspora salvadoreña: “ni de aquí, ni de allá”. A través de la propia interpretación de Barrientos de lo que le recuerda su tierra natal, se resiste a la eliminación de su propia cultura salvadoreña y celebra su herencia cultural.
